What we do not do
Every item on this list is something somebody asks for most weeks. Being told plainly on a website beats being told on the telephone after you have already made a plan around it.
No takeaway and no delivery
Not a policy position about apps, just an honest one about food: almost everything on this menu is worse in a box twenty minutes later. The roast chicken is worse. The branzino is much worse. The pasta is a tragedy. We would rather not sell you a bad version of a thing we are proud of, and there are several genuinely good places on Roosevelt Avenue that cook food designed to travel.
No whole-restaurant hire on a Friday or Saturday
The private room, yes, any night. The whole building, only on a Monday when we are closed anyway, and only occasionally. Taking the entire restaurant out of service on its two busiest nights means turning away every regular who booked, and no fee makes that a good trade.
No weddings
The private room seats twenty-two. A wedding does not fit in it, and the ones that would fit are better served somewhere with a kitchen built for a single simultaneous service.
No separate gluten-free kitchen
One kitchen, one set of surfaces. This has its own page because it matters more than the rest of this list put together.
No tasting menu
Twice discussed, twice abandoned. A tasting menu in a room this size means the kitchen cooks one thing all night and the neighbourhood loses the ability to come in and have a burger, which is most of what this restaurant is for.
Also no
- An online shop for the gift cards. They are bought here or by telephone, and we are not going to pretend a card sold online arrives faster than one you collect.
- Outside catering. We cook in this building.
- A car park, a roof terrace, a children's play area or a private car service. Getting here covers the parking honestly.
- Reservations at the bar. Twelve seats, first come first served, permanently. Why.
The rest of the things worth knowing

Book a table
Pick a date, tell us how many of you there are, and the form shows the times we can actually seat that many — not every time we are open. Parties of eight and under book instantly; nine or more becomes a private dining enquiry, because a group that size needs a room and a set menu rather than a table. The twelve bar seats are never reservable, so there is always somewhere to eat here without a booking.
