Your table

A booking holds a table for ninety minutes for one to four people, or two hours for five or more. The number is shown on the form before you book and again in the confirmation email. The arithmetic behind it.

You are booking a seat for a window of time, not a specific table. Which table you get is decided on the day by whoever is running the floor and may change up to the moment you arrive.

Late arrivals and no-shows

We hold a booked table for fifteen minutes. We do not take a card and we do not charge for a no-show. The whole policy.

Cancelling

One click, from the link in your confirmation email, any time until the booking has passed. A booking that is not confirmed is never cancelled automatically — somebody telephones you instead.

Large parties and private dining

Parties of 9 or more, and all private dining, are arranged by enquiry rather than booked online, carry a 20% service charge, and require a signed sheet and a deposit before a date is held. A verbal hold is not a booking. Terms are stated in writing on the enquiry before any money changes hands. Private dining.

Service charge

Nothing is added automatically to a party of eight or fewer. What the charge is and who receives it.

Corkage and outside food

One bottle per two guests at $35, subject to two conditions. No outside food other than a birthday cake, at $4 a person. Corkage and outside food.

Allergens

We will tell you exactly what is in any dish and will leave a named component out where the dish survives it. We do not represent any dish as safe for a severe allergy, because there is one kitchen here and no separate allergen line. Why, in full.

The menus and prices on this site

Updated the day they change in the kitchen. A dish you read about here may still not be on when you arrive, because ingredients run out and the fish is sometimes not good enough. Why the menu changes.
