Five menus, one kitchen

Menus

Everything we cook, with the prices, written as a web page rather than photographed as a PDF. Roughly a third of the dinner menu turns over with the season and single dishes change more often than that, so what is here is what was true this morning.

  • Every price on the page, and the same prices in the search-engine data
  • What is in each dish, component by component
  • Readable on a phone without pinching

Lunch menu

Tuesday to Friday, 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Shorter, faster and cheaper than dinner, because most people eating lunch on 61st Street have to be somewhere afterwards.

Children's menu

All services. Children are welcome at every table and in the private room.

Four things, all of them smaller versions of food we actually cook, priced so that bringing a child here is not a penalty.

Before you read any of them

The dish you read about may not be on. About a third of the dinner menu changes with the season, and single dishes change more often than that. This is not a marketing rhythm — it is what happens when the person doing the ordering is allowed to say the fish is not good enough this week. It has one consequence for you: the dish you read about here may not be on when you arrive. The menus on this site are updated the day they change in the kitchen, and if you are coming specifically for something, call and ask rather than trusting the page.

One kitchen, and we will not pretend otherwise. We cannot make this kitchen allergen-free, and any restaurant that tells you it has is either using a separate room you have not seen or is not being careful with the word. There is one kitchen here. Flour is worked on the same bench that later holds a plate. The fryer that cooks the fries also cooks nothing else, which helps, but the tongs, the pass and the air are shared. What we can do is tell you precisely what is in a dish, and leave a named component out where the dish survives it. Those are real, useful answers. "Safe for a severe allergy" is not an answer we are able to give truthfully, so we do not give it.

Two pages are worth two minutes before you book: what one kitchen can and cannot promise about an allergen, and how long the table is actually yours. Both say a plain thing plainly, and both are the sort of thing most restaurants leave you to discover at the table.

Book a table

Pick a date, tell us how many of you there are, and the form shows the times we can actually seat that many — not every time we are open. Parties of eight and under book instantly; nine or more becomes a private dining enquiry, because a group that size needs a room and a set menu rather than a table. The twelve bar seats are never reservable, so there is always somewhere to eat here without a booking.
