Bar and wine list

Twelve seats, no reservations, and a short list that turns over often. We describe wine by grape, style and region rather than by producer, because the bottle we have this month may not be the bottle we have next month and a list that lies is worse than a list that is vague.

What is in these dishes

Each dish above lists the allergen components it contains. These are the ones that appear on this menu:

A dish marked “made without” a component is a statement about that one component and nothing else. It is not a statement that the plate is safe for an allergy — please read the allergens page, which explains exactly why we will not make that claim about a kitchen this size.

The dish you read about may not be on. About a third of the dinner menu changes with the season, and single dishes change more often than that. This is not a marketing rhythm — it is what happens when the person doing the ordering is allowed to say the fish is not good enough this week. It has one consequence for you: the dish you read about here may not be on when you arrive. The menus on this site are updated the day they change in the kitchen, and if you are coming specifically for something, call and ask rather than trusting the page.

One bottle per two guests, $35. One bottle per two guests, $35 a bottle, waived on the Tuesday supper. Two conditions worth knowing before you carry something across Queens: it must not be a wine already on our list, and it must be a 750ml still or sparkling wine rather than a spirit. If you are bringing something you care about, tell us when you book and we will have the right glasses out and decant it if it needs it — that part is free and it is the part that actually matters.

The bar takes no bookings. Walk in and sit down

The twelve bar seats are never reservable, and that is deliberate: it means there is somewhere to eat here on a Friday night without a booking. Walk in and take a seat if one is free — on a Saturday evening between seven and nine the honest answer is that you may wait. A table in the dining room is a separate booking.
